Everything you need to become an expert on Bratislava's sights.
Much of the interest in a city for the tourist is the influence of it's history, so here is a very brief history of the area.
Bratislava, the capital of the Slovak Republic, called Pressburg in German and Pozsong in Hungarian, straddles the river Danube. It has had a varied history dating from the Stone Age, although it wasn’t until the 5th century that it was settled by Slavic tribes. For centuries it was the scene of violent conflict. During it’s history it has been peopled by Slavs, Germans and Hungarians. It was in 1919 that the Slovakians were forced into becoming part of Czechoslovakia and it wasn’t until 1993 that they were able to free themselves from this unwanted bond. Partly because of it's history Bratislava has much to offer the tourist. Link to this page: http://bratislava.allcapitals.com/See/
